The Canton Symphony Chorus was founded in 1984 as a volunteer adult ensemble. The Chorus rehearses weekly mid-August through April under the direction of Chorusmaster DR. C. M. SHEARER, and performs major choral works with Music Director GERHARDT ZIMMERMANN and the Canton Symphony Orchestra. In addition, this year the Chorus performs their own three-concert Series at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in downtown Canton.
This year's performance with Canton Symphony Orchestra will be the season finale on May 8, 2010 featuring Mozart's Requiem. Past works performed by the Chorus include the Brahms, Berlioz and Verdi Requiems, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Vaughan Williams’ Antarctica Symphony, and Walton's Belshazzar's Feast.
General Information:
Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7:30-10:00 PM in the Cultural Center for the Arts (CCA) Arts Education Center, 1014 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton, OH 44702 (adjacent to the CCA at 10th and Cleveland).
