Symphonic Storytelling

Symphonic Storytelling

November 9 @ 7:30 pm

Umstattd Performing Arts Hall | Directions

Our Concertmaster, Cristian Zimmerman (no relation to the Maestro!), takes center stage with Concerto dei Fiori (Concerto of Flowers), a piece originally written for Cristian’s father. We will perform Copland’s original version of Appalachian Spring which includes only a few strings, a few winds and piano (instead of the full orchestra) as well as Barber’s Knoxville Summer of 1915 for solo soprano and orchestra. We will feature soprano Hilerie Klein Rensi on the Barber.

You will love the peaceful sounds of the concerto by Bodorova. Appalachian Spring will sound familiar to many of you, but this smaller version is rarely done so it will be a real treat! The Dances are sure to energize you with lots of brass sound and a wonderful solo in the clarinet.
