Beethoven’s symphonies laid the foundations for romantic symphonic literature through the 1800s.  Maestro Zimmermann shows the very beginnings of one of these symphonies, and how another masterful composer, Richard Strauss, paid homage to one of Beethoven’s greatest symphonies, Symphony No. 3, “Eroica”. Canton Symphony Chorus Sings Haydn

Meet the Assistant Conductor and the Chorus Director!  For the first half of this concert, Assistant conductor Matthew Jenkins Jaroszewicz takes the podium to lead the orchestra in selections from Stravinsky’s Pulcinella and Leopold Stokowski’s arrangement of Dido’s Lament from Dido and Aeneas.  After intermission, the Canton Symphony Chorus joins the CSO under the baton of Britt Cooper for Haydn’s Mass in the Time of War.
