The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

A One-Act Opera

NEW to the Canton Symphony Orchestra Educational offerings!

With a spellbinding story based on Washington Irving's classic tale, this one-act
opera features imaginative scenery, special effects and delightful music by
composer David Gooding with clever lyrics by Paul Lee.

Students will meet the bumbling Ichabod Crane, the bewitching Katrina, and the
handsome and cunning Brom, as well as other surprise characters.

Originally commissioned by Cleveland Opera, the work has been rescored
by David Gooding for baritone, tenor and mezzo-soprano voices and a small
orchestra of violin, flute, clarinet, French horn, cello, piano and percussion.

Program materials and a teacher's guide with background information and links to Academic Content Standards accompany all performances.
