Canton Symphony Orchestra will host the next installment of their Divergent Sounds series, Jazz Fusion Meets the Symphony featuring J.T.’s Electrik Blackout on January 16, 2020 at 7:30pm. Discover the new sound of two different genres when they morph into a spectacularly new musical experience.
Justin Tibbs of J.T.’s Electrik Blackout is a saxophonist of all genres. He is native to Akron, OH and attended Firestone High School – focusing heavily on their visual and performing arts programming. He then went on to attend The University of Akron where he studied and received a degree in Mass Media Communications Radio & TV, Public Relations, and Jazz Saxophone Studies. He studied under the tutelage of Rich Shanklin and Jack Schantz during school.
Tibbs’ extensive list of credits include playing with George Mraz, Jiggs Whigam, The Brother’s Band, Four Corners Jazz Quartet, The Angie Haze Project, The Speedbumps, The Mike Lenz Group, Hayden’s Calling, and most notably – J.T.’s Electrik Blackout. His achievements have been covered by Fox 8 in the Morning, PBS: Ideastream, and NBC’s Channel 3: Good Company Morning Program.
