At the Canton Symphony Orchestra, our volunteers are the super heroes of our nonprofit organization! Our busy seasons of concerts, education and community events, and day-to-day activities would not be possible without the support of the individuals who donate their time with us.

Volunteers are usually onsite for 1-4 hours per concert/event during the season. ALL VOLUNTEERS are required to be on-time for each concert/event—90 minutes prior to the event, unless otherwise noted. Training for each position will be provided onsite. All volunteers must provide proof of vaccination or negative COVID test within 48 hours of the performance. Status will be checked at the entrance upon arrival. Masks will be required for everyone while inside the building.
Are you great at making conversation and pouring drinks? Join us as our bartender during concerts and events. The bar is open before, at intermission, and at the end of each concert/event. Volunteers at the bar must be over 21 years old and should be comfortable handling money.
Step outside of the Zimmermann Symphony Center and assist us with our education and community events. Volunteers are specifically trained to become ambassadors of the CSO when out in the community. Whether answering questions at a CSO info table or handing out programs to event attendees, you will be a valuable member of our CSO family.
If you’re a lover of snacks, we have the perfect place for you on concert nights! When you help us at the concession stand, you will oversee the snack station before the concert, and at intermission. Volunteers must be comfortable handling money.
Your warm smile and kind hello is just what we’re looking for in our concert greeters! Use your customer service skills at our concerts by helping us welcome our patrons to the Zimmermann Hall.
Join us behind the scenes of our concerts by becoming a guest artist driver at CSO. Drivers must be interviewed by the CSO staff and board, have a good driving history, and own a clean vehicle in excellent condition. Volunteers must also meet minimum insurance requirements and be able to carry luggage for guest artists.
T-shirts, and sweatshirts, and mugs- oh my! Help us promote and sell our CSO merchandise at the merch table during our concerts. Volunteers at the merch table must be comfortable handling money.
Do you have free time during typical work hours? Join us as an office aide! Volunteers will help support our concerts, events, and programs through administrative work.
Get ready to be our master way-finder and the keeper of concert programs at the CSO! As an usher, your primary role is to check tickets at the door and help our patrons find their seats in Zimmermann Hall. Ushers are required to attend a pre-concert huddle before the concert begins and must be able to be on their feet for an extended period of time.
Instead of taking tickets – you’ll be handing them out! At will call, you can feel like Oprah as you give our patrons their pre-sold tickets and welcome them into the hall (“and you get a ticket! and you get a ticket!) Volunteers that are organized, friendly, and time-efficient are best suited for this job.
